NoiseAir were recently appointed to manufacture and install a series of acoustic blankets at John Spence School, North Shields. The school has excellent sports facilities including a large MUGA pitch which is utilised by pupils at the school and also the general public.
However, following concerns from nearby residents regarding noise stemming from the pitches (particularly in the evening time), the school had a noise impact assessment carried out. The noise assessment confirmed that noise breakout from activities on the pitch, particularly from the ball impacting the metal fence, would best be dealt with via installation of an acoustic barrier. As well as ball impacts, the barrier would also reduce the noise of referee's whistles and shouting from players or spectators.
Based on the findings of the noise assessment, our consultants were able to determine the necessary specification of acoustic blankets to mitigate the noise (including specific height, length and density of blankets to give the desired result).
The results of the assessment were presented to the school with a number of different options. A configuration was agreed within the allocated budget, and the blankets were then manufactured and installed by NoiseAir in their preferred colour.
