NoiseAir were recently asked to carry out a noise impact assessment in support of a planning application in Northwich, Cheshire. The client was seeking planning permission to convert the first floor of a public house into residential units. Cheshire West and Cheshire Council had highlighted the need for a noise survey as part of the application, due to a large kitchen extraction system on the roof of the pub. Concerns had been raised that noise from the extractor unit would create a disturbance to any future residents of the new flats.
Our acoustic consultants were able to carry out a BS4142 noise assessment at the site, which determined the noise break out from the extraction system in relation to the proposed residential units. The data allowed the consultants to identify the acoustic specifications necessary to insulate the building envelope to achieve the required sound insulation standards.
Our acoustic consultants have extensive experience with BS4142 noise assessments for planning applications. We have worked on several projects in Cheshire and work closely with the Local Authority and Environmental Health to overcome any noise related concerns.
